Probably the best CF article I've ever read

What makes this article a winner?

  • No pandering to parents by including their tut-tuts or ensuring quotes from CFers who "love children but don't want any of my own"
  • Acknowledgement of the existence of CF groups other than NoKidding!
  • Acknowledgement that some CF people just can't stand kids
  • Acknowledgement that children are acquisitions to so many parents, another status symbol to add to the list
  • Acknowledgement that today's parents think they invented parenthood and today's culture is far too child-centric
  • Mocking the celebri-breeder obsession and "Bump Watch" so common in the celeb gossip media
  • A slant that, for once, is pro-CF and not pro-parent or "aren't those CF the most interesting weirdos"
Don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself. It's a bit of a puff feature, not heavy-hitting news writing, but it's a good read.

This is an extremely good article. It's disturbing that gay couples are now also feeling the pressure to have children. There's a gay-themed street festival here in Chicago, where I could always see anti-breeding sentiment on display. It was very comforting to a straight woman like myself. I felt like I had found a common ground with that community. Now it's changed--I saw numerous booths set up that preached the joys of adoption and foster parenting to gays.
