"Look at me, I'm so edgy," indeed.

"If I had to choose just one, I would say that the most ridiculous and transparent statement ever made by many young idealistic leftists is that they choose not to have children because they don't want to bring children to this world because it is so bad. (Of course, few people who say such things ever bother to point out some past era when the world would have been good enough for them to have children.)"

Why would anyone need to point out a past era when the world would have been a good enough place to raise children? If we cannot or will not describe such a time, does that somehow invalidate our opinion of the world as it stands now?

I think dislike of the state of the world is a perfectly valid reason to not have kids, and there is nothing young, idealist, or leftist about it. Then again, I don't see any invalid reason to not have kids. Don't want 'em? Don't have 'em. Your reasons are your own, and there is nothing ridiculous or transparent or poser-edgy about them.

You think the world is going to hell? Fine. You have a family history of medical disorders? No problem. You don't want to deal with a needy, dependent being? Great. You like your life just as it is? Wonderful. These are all excellent reasons to not reproduce. I'm having trouble thinking of any reason to be childfree that is not excellent.

What in the hell is the point of ridiculing anyone's reasons to not have children?

(To be "edgy," I suppose.)

Who are the real freeloaders here?

Read this, and then read this.

Amazing.

So now childless people are the resource leeches because they won't produce more children to keep society going?

Funny how the authors and many of their commenters ignore the level of their leechitude RIGHT NOW as our tax dollars go to subsidize their children. Because Children Are The Future, I guess their leeching is supposed to be OK.

You want to keep the world going? You pay for it. I really don't care. I didn't ask to be born, I'm paying my bills, my taxes, and my way while I'm here, my life insurance will pay to dispose of my corpse, and once I'm dead, none of this is my problem any more.

I owe you breeders two things: Jack and Shit.

Oh, by the way, if you have children and they don't live to adulthood, or end up in jail, or disabled, or in an institution, or otherwise can't work and pay taxes and contribute to society, perhaps you should not only face the same penalties you suggest for the childless, but also an extra penalty because you put additional people on this earth who drain money and resources rather than contribute.

Bet you morons didn't think about THAT, did you? Or do you assume that all children somehow contribute to society, even if they're drooling or tarding or raping or murdering or talking to themselves in an alley or masturbating in a jail cell or collecting welfare?

Do you have to be stupid to be a parent, or does parenting make people stupid? I know parents who are actually smart and wouldn't believe the shit perpetuated by the dolts who wrote the linked articles, so I hope these two are special (education) cases.
